Jane Scott Wade, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.
She was born on August 25, 1928 in Darby, PA to the late Samuel L. and Jane (Scott) Patterson. Jane was a devoted volunteer for the White Cross Guild at Methodist Hospital and was active for many years with the International Travel Study Group in Southport. When her health allowed, she also attended Park Grove Baptist Church, University Heights Baptist Church and Zion United Church of Christ. Jane was a talented cook and enjoyed trying and creating new foods; she was featured several times in the Indianapolis Star Newspaper for her unique recipes. She was an avid gardener and had 2 green thumbs. Any issues with a house plant you could bring it to her and she could bring it back to life. She really loved her flower garden. Her greatest love in life was caring for her family and especially her grand kids.
Jane is survived by her children, Greg (Dottie) Wade, Barbara (Greg) Tull; grandchildren Stephanie Wade, Kimberly (Grant) Soliven, Beth Wade, Daniel Wade, Jonathan Tull and Preston Tull. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis G. Wade; brother, Samuel Patterson; son, David Bruce Wade.

As a legend on this earth comes to an end.
Mom as I sit here next to you as the life slowly slips from your earthly body I know you are that much closer to your presence in the arms of your Lord and Savior you have put your faith in all these years. A living GOD that you have trusted for guidance for so many years.
I know you have had your trials through your life me being one of the greatest. Growing up I remember how I knew just what buttons to push to make you mad but in your reaction to me you could have lost your temper and came after me but instead you walked away and started quoting the books of the bible (which I now know very well). I knew if you made it to the New Testament I was in big trouble and I would hear those famous words “wait till your father gets home” and then the cat of 9 tails would come out for me. I was now in for a double correction modification to my rear end.
I sit here by you I am remembering all the days you sat by my side when you had so many other things you could be doing or needed to do.
I remember the time I fell out of the car and broke my collar bone. You were sitting next to me at the hospital for hours reading the book a “BIG BALL OF STRING” you read it so many times you had it memorized.
Then the time I was sick at home and played the Treasure Island record over and over again. I think it wore the grooves on the record smooth. I still remember the saying to this day from that story “The black spot when you get the black spot you’re done for”
Oh the things I put you through:
Getting ready to do laundry you reached into a pocket to clean it out and grabbed a big hand full of live worms.
Or the time I got sprayed by a skunk, of course I came into the house to strip down. You figured out how to clean my clothes and help get the smell off me.
The worries I put you through while I was gone trapping, fishing or spelunking and you not hearing from me for hours . Then finding out after the fact that I had slipped out for a day with Bill Allen and, Kent Raker to go sky diving. I still remember your response when I got home and told you what we did. “YOU DID WHAT???. And the time I thought I would make a quick road trip to Tennessee at 16 with Todd Adams to purchase fireworks and not telling you where I was going. Then my car breaking down in Kentucky before getting there. Having to make that call home and hearing your voice “YOU ARE WHERE????” You need to talk to your father.
All this before the internet or cell phones were around.
Thank God for the answer to many prayers yours and ours for He has now called you home.
The great pain your body experienced those last few weeks is now over. God has answered our prayers and called you home. You are now without pain but have left a VOID on this physical earth that cannot be replaced. We will miss you physical presence but know according to GODs word we will join with you someday.
As I go through your final papers I see the title on the occupation line “HOUSE WIFE” What a distinguished title for you to carry. It is so much higher valued than any CEO, VP, Senior Principle Engineer and so forth. The title of HOUSE WIFE covers all these titles and so much more. You may not have received a college degree on paper but you earned your triple doctorate degree by your life’s experiences and your leadership running our household, our family and taking care of us and your extended family in a way no one could have ever done so well. The life you provided and the support you gave us all far exceeds any other title you could have ever received on a piece of paper.
HOUSE WIFE The highest honor you could have achieved on this earth.
GOD does answer prayers praise GOD you are now in his presence and his glory. I’m sure Dad, David (my brother, your second son), and all that had Christ as their personal savior were waiting with open arms as you made your final journey to join them.
Mom this is not goodbye but just a temporary separation.
For as it is written
2 Corinthians 5:6–8 King James Version (KJV) 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
