Jane H. (Shook) Durflinger passed away peacefully on August 19, 2018, at the age of 94.
She was the only child born to Wilbur B. Shook and Helen H. Shook on October 23, 1923, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Jane graduated from Shortridge High School in 1941 and attended Indiana University where she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
She spent many years enjoying doing volunteer work for St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild, Crossroads Rehabilitation and the Junior League. Later in life, Jane worked for Walker Research. Jane was also a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, which proudly was designed by her architect father who was a partner with McGuire & Shook architectural firm.
Jane was preceded in death by her son, William S. Buschmann. She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Buschmann (Katherine) and daughter, Diane Whiteside (Charles), her beloved grandchildren: Laura J. Foster (Matthew), Rachel J. Whiteside, Blaine Buschmann (Katie), Sarah Buschmann, Ashley Whiteside-Kluchki (Christopher), and Bryant Buschmann, and great-grandchildren: William and Jane Foster, and Taylor Buschmann. Jane’s extended family circle includes Gary Whiteside, and Doug and Kristen Bryant and family.
At Jane’s request, there will be no calling. A private family graveside service will take place at Washington Park North.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity, including one of Jane’s passions, The Indianapolis Humane Society.
