James William Elliott, 90, of Westfield passed away December 29, 2022. He was born November 24, 1932, in Mobile, Alabama, the son of the late Walter and Minnie (Fallon) Elliott. He married Nita Westfaul on August 30, 1958.
James proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy. He received his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in electrical engineering which led to him to a wonderful career working for various entities including the United States military, NASA, and Chrysler Automotive. He was an avid reader and was active within his church serving as a deacon and elder. His engineering background aided him in his role of general contractor as he oversaw the construction of his church and his own home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nita Elliott; three sons, Monte (Kenneth) Elliott, Tony (Jane) Elliott, and Mike (Kathy) Elliott; four grandchildren, Amy (Jared) Talbott, Sam (Brittini) Elliott, Ashley Elliott, and John (Beth) Elliott; and three great grandchildren: Jack, Luke and Anderson.
He was preceded in passing by two sisters, Pat Dearmon and Barbra Sims.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Donations in lieu of flowers should be sent to First Baptist Church of Gulf Shores, 2200 W First St, Gulf Shores, AL 36542 his long-time church home.
