Sketch of Life James Warren Ross (Honk) was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on June 29, 1939, to the late James & Barbara Ross. Warren graduated from Wiley HighSchool in 1957 where he excelled in basketball. He received a basketball scholarship to Indiana State University and was inducted into the ISU Hall of Fame and was a member of Phi Lambda Phi Fraternity. Warren was an avid sportsman who loved basketball, bowling, cycling & jogging. After graduating from ISU, Warren moved to Detroit Michigan with his family to pursue a career with the Detroit Public School System where he taught Science and later became a Guidance counselor and also coached the school basketball team. Warren later returned to Indiana and was united in marriage to Ruth (Churchill). Warren continued his career at Washington & Wayne Township School Districts. He loved to mentor his students by helping them pursue their college and future dreams and remained lifelong friends with all his students. Warren was a devoted member of N. E. C. Church for almost 29 years under the leadership of Pastor C.C. Moore also served as a trustee and coached the Church’s basketball team. James Warren Ross 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana. Received his heavenly wings to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 11, 2020, at home under the loving care of his wife and her son (Ralph) Warren was preceded in death by his parents James and Barbara Ross, 2 brothers Donald and Lester. Warren leaves cherished memories to his loving and devoted wife of 36 years Ruth Ross of Indianapolis, Indiana.
