James Edward Steffen

James “Jim” Edward Steffen, 81, Carmel, IN passed away March 30, 2025. He was born in Lancaster, OH to Harry August Steffen and Margaret (Siemer) Steffen. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, graduate of The Ohio State University, and was a United States Secret Service Special Agent, during which he visited 71 different countries. Upon retirement from the USSS, Jim continued his security and investigation career in various roles until recently.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 53 years, Adelia (Reedy) Steffen, (married January 7, 1967), and brothers, Frank and Bob.

Survivors include his son, Michael, daughter, Courtney, sisters, Margie and Mary, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

His love of family, sense of humor, and amazing stories of his fascinating life will certainly be missed.

Visitation will be held Thursday April 10th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis.
