James S. Moore

James S. Moore, 79 of Carmel, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born June 24, 1937 in Fishers to the late Roscoe and Pauline Moore. He was a graduate of Fishers High School, Ball State University and Butler University.

Jim was the founding principal at the original College Wood Elementary School in Carmel, which was the first school in Indiana to offer classes for special needs children. Jim retired in 1995 after 31 years as principal.

Jim was a member of Faith Church in Indianapolis and was a long-time member of Carmel Friends Church.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, January 20 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, January 21 at Carmel Friends Church.

Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred; children, James Mark (Joyce) Moore, Carol E. (Mike) Mitchell, Linda A. (Mike) Ogle, John S. (Shelly) Moore and Marcia L. (Shawn Orth) Moore; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Bill (Sandi) Moore.
