James R. Opel

James R Opel known by his Family and friends as Big Jim passed away December 30, 2019.

Big Jim was born in Haysville Indiana on October 8, 1938 and graduated from Paoli high school in Paoli Indiana in 1957.

Jim was married to his partner in life Sara Luckett on August 17, 1957 they were married for 62 years.

Jim retired from RCA as a national accounts manager. He was an avid sports fan, in particular, his favorite was basketball which he greatly excelled during his high school career. Jim and his wife Sara enjoy traveling, taking cruises with family and spending their winters in Florida with close friends.

Big Jim is survived by his wife Sara Lucket Opel, four children Doug (Carla) Opel, Melissa Opel, Jeffrey (Mary) Opel and Mark (Stacey) Opel. Five grandchildren Jerad Opel, Matthew Opel, Jacob Opel, Jennifer Opel and Amber (Opel) Griffin and two great granddaughters Jolie and Jentry.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for his friends and family.
