James R. Madison, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018.
He was born in Vincennes, IN to the late Virgil and Ethel Madison. Jim was a graduate of Lincoln High School and served honorably in the US Navy. Following his military discharge, he relocated to Indianapolis where he worked for Diamond Chain. Jim went on to work as a Test Engineer for the Ford Motor Company, retiring after 33 years of service. He was a member of Lawrence United Methodist Church, and enjoyed attending Mass with his wife at St. Simon Catholic Church. Jim was interested in the stock market and spent many hours buying and selling; however, his greatest love in life was providing for and spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife and companion of 7 years, Margaret Madison; children, James R. and Patricia Madison, Jr. and Rita and Gary Bane; 5 grandchildren, Kyle Bane, Brent and Chelsea Bane, Shelby and Chad Fleener, Joshua Madison, Danielle Madison; 3 great-grandchildren, McKenzie Fleener, Jackson Bane, Navy Rae Bane; 2 sisters and 1 brother. He was preceded in death by his parents; and loving wife, Ruth Madison, who passed away in 2008.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 11am – 1pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East with funeral services immediately following. Burial will take place in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Lawrence United Methodist Church.
