James R. Lenahan, 93, of Greenfield, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away on March 19, 2017. Jim was born February 10, 1924 in Indianapolis to Francis and Aletha (McCain) Lenahan. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended Indiana University. He served in the Navy and Marine Corp during WWII and the Korean Wars as a Pharmacist Mate. He retired from Eli Lilly in 1987 after 40 years. He married the love of his life Mary Sue Reinert on May 22, 1948. Jim was an avid golfer and bridge player.
He is survived by his children Kathleen Brackman, Colleen (Richard) Simon, Therese (Virgil) Warren, Timothy (Julie) Lenahan, Marie (Tony) Gunter, Judith (Patrick) Schiewer, Jean (Michael) Adams, and Aletha Lenahan, 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, his siblings, Bernard Lenahan, Paul “David” Lenahan, May Terese McCarty, and Eileen White.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years. Mary Susan (Reinert) Lenahan, his son, Mark Lenahan, grandson, Michael Lenahan, and brothers Francis “Joe” and Thomas Lenahan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations go to St. Vincent de Paul Society. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Memorial Park located at 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 10:30 AM, located at 7243 East 10th Street, Indianapolis.
