James R. Goettl

James R. Goettl, 86 of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday February 1, 2020. He was born on October 11, 1933 in Cadott, Wisconsin to the late Conrad and Anna Goettl. Jim worked for the USDA as a soil conservationist for over 30 years. He also owned Jim’s Bike Shop, where he bought, sold, and repaired bicycles.

Jim is survived by his children, Kent (Jeanne) Goettl, Jean Kennedy, Cindy (Tim) Dora, Amy (Robert) Schmid, Kevin (Carol) Goettl, Patty Garrett, and Pam Bodart; eighteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and sister, Bernadine Imbrey. Jim is preceded in passing by his wife Evelyn, and thirteen siblings.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel (324 East Carmel Drive, Carmel, Indiana 46032). A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel (14598 Oak Ridge Road, Carmel, Indiana 46032). Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
