James A. Pittman

James Arthur Pittman was born in Indianapolis, IN on November 12, 1946, to Leatrice and Lawrence Pittman. He attended Pike High School, and participated in the Dearborn gym amateur basketball league with his brother Bill while their father served as the team's coach. He was a timekeeper for Bryant Heating & Cooling Corporation and later became an employee of W.A. Pittman Sons Concrete Company, eventually serving as owner.

He was a recreational fisherman taking occasional fishing trips with family and friends to Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee and Canada. He enjoyed animals, especially his cats and dogs. He was an avid sports fan of the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis Colts and Purdue University basketball and football teams. He attended many Nascar and Indy Car events through the years. He could also name all the music concerts he attended with his wife Janet throughout their marriage. In addition to his wife Janet, he is also survived by his son Mark (Jane) Pittman, and his sisters Mary (Rick) Berger and Carol (Tom) Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill Pittman. His grandchildren Luke, Claire and Kate Pittman provided him with many years of enjoyment and pride.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 4PM-8PM at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229. Additional visitation will be held the following day from 10AM-11AM, with a funeral service beginning at 11AM. James will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery.
