James Neal Keyler, 84, passed away January 19, 2019. James was born in Indianapolis, August 14, 1934 to parents Cornelius and Esther Keyler. He attended Broad Ripple High School and Purdue University, and served in the US Army 1954-57. From 1964 and spanning 35 years to his retirement in 1998 he was an engineer with Naval Avionics, Hughes Aircraft, and Raytheon Systems Co.
James was a member of the Scottish Rite, Past Master of the Northwest Masonic Lodge No.770, Corinthian Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star No.456, Demolay, and American Legion, Post No.34. He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts, and a Firecrafter in the Central Indiana Council, and as a scout and leader (Assistant District Commissioner 1966) he spent many years at Camp Belzer. Photography was a favored avocation and he won several awards.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sara (Phillips) Keyler, and his nephews Daniel E. Keyler (Shorewood, Minnesota) and Thomas E. Keyler (Noblesville, Indiana). His two brothers, Edward (2016), and Robert (2017) preceded him in death.
Private family service will be at Flanner and Buchanan, and burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery.
