James Nathanil Terry, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away December 18, 2019. He was born on March 3, 1935 in Oneida, Tennessee as the son of Mitchell and Nannie Belle Terry.
James served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was an active member at Little Zion United Baptist Church, holding the role as Eldest Deacon. James had many hobbies, but his most favorite thing in the world was to fish. You could catch James fishing in any type of weather. James also liked to hunt and golf. He was in bowling leagues and also pitched in horseshoe leagues with his kids and brothers at the Marion County Fairgrounds. When James wasn’t busy reeling in a big bass, he could be found watching old Westerns, football, or Andy Griffith.
James is survived by his wife, Anna Lovett Terry; children, Dianne Ralston, Jami Pearson, and Mark Terry; grandchildren, Heather Hale, Nathan Terry, Sarah Ralston, Teddy Pearson, and Brandy Pearson; great-grandchildren, Amelia Hale, Elliot Terry, and Sophie Pearson; brothers, Jennings Terry and Ottis Terry; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Nannie and Mitchell Terry; his daughter, Traci Terry; sisters, Reda Shepherd, Patsy Cotton, and Helen Sexton; and brothers, Virgil Terry, Robert Terry, Mitchell (Jake) Terry, John David (JD) Terry, and Theron Terry.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019, from 4-6pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. There will be a service following at 6pm, also at the funeral home.
