James "Mike" Johnson

James M. (Mike) Johnson was born in Hartford Kentucky, September 23, 1945 to William Davis Johnson and Vonnie Earl Barnett Johnson.  He passed away peacefully on July 6, 2020.  Mike was raised in Morgantown, Kentucky and graduated from Butler County High School in 1963. After graduation Mike moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. He enlisted in the Army from 1965 through 1971. He worked for Burger Chef as manager of maintenance from the early 1970s to 1981. He also owned Economy Air of Indy in the 1980’s. He then worked as an overhead crane electrician at Chevrolet Truck and Bus starting in 1981 and retired in 1992. Mike was preceded in death by his father, William Davis Johnson; mother, Vonnie Earl Johnson; and sister, Katherine (Cat) Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Johnson; daughter, Amanda Johnson; son, James Michael (Mike) Johnson II; stepsons, Kevin Kendall (Wanda), Jim Kendall (Brandie) and Jason Kendall; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 13 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. Mike was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, Shriners, VFW 908 and American Legion post 64. Viewing will be at Flanner and Buchanan Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd., Indianapolis, Indiana, Monday, July 13, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan Floral Park.
