James Marvin Chenoweth

June 25, 1931 — December 13, 2020

Fishers, IN

James Marvin Chenoweth, 89 of Fishers, IN, passed peacefully at home, on December 13, 2020, with family by his side. Born in Spartanburg, IN to Glen and Martha Chenoweth, he graduated from Spartanburg High School where he played basketball and baseball. He furthered his education at Miami University, Ohio, where he received his degree in accounting. After college, he served in the Army at Fort Knox where he met the love of his life, Alice, whom he married in April 1956.

He began his career at Shell Oil Company, then joined P.R. Mallory & Company, where he worked for 18 years. In 1980, he took the position of Vice President of Finance for Citizens Gas and Coke Utility.

Upon retiring in 1994, he was able to devote more time to his passion of sharing Christ through church planting with East 91st Christian Church, where he was a long-time member. As a faithful Christ-follower, he also served in many other volunteer positions.

He loved his family and friends dearly, enjoying vacations, weekly breakfast meetings, golf, and family gatherings. He was actively involved in his grandkids’ activities and always had a huge smile to go along with his dry sense of humor. His gentle spirit, compassion, and love were obvious and will be missed by all who had the joy of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Alice Kinser Chenoweth; three daughters, Denise C Fisk, Lisa C Baird (David), Sherri C Rolston; ten grandchildren, James C Baird, Rachel, Daniel R Baird (Tabitha), Kailey M Pavey (Tyler), Korey R Ryan, Claire L Sanburn (Jacob), Mark J Fisk, William A Fisk, Madeline L Bates (Noah), Yanah S Rolston, Chloe G Baird; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy J Lindstaedt, Margaret (Peg) Parsons; nieces and nephews
