James Richard Kelly of Silver Springs, Florida, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away April 15, 2025, at 94 years of age. He was born in West Hamlin, West Virginia on February 27, 1931, to Leonard Kelly and Sarah (Brady) McSweeney. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. James was a Maintenance Supervisor at General Motors Truck & Bus for over 25+ years prior to retiring. He was a member of the Southport Masonic Lodge and the Murat Shrine Temple. James loved the outdoors and spent much time playing a round of golf, fishing, camping, boating, tending to his vegetable garden, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by many. James leaves a legacy of family including his daughters, Phyllis (Michael) Nelson, Glenna Griffith, Deborah (William) Branscum-Atkinson, Renee Kelly, Angela Kelly, his grandchildren, Stephanie Goodman, Melanie Hurst, William Hall, Richard Sampson, Kelly Sampson, Stacey Keller, Hannah Russell, his mother, Sarah McSweeney, his 17 great grandchildren, and his 22 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Nellie J. Kelly, his father, Leonard Kelly, his grandson, Michael Keller, his great grandson, Ryan Sampson, and his sister, Nancy Collins. Graveside services will be held on April 24, 2025, 2:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
