89, of Indianapolis, passed away April 28, 2017. He was born July 6, 1927 in Madison, Indiana to William and Clara Cheatham. At the young age of 18, Jimmy enlisted in the US Army and served our country proudly. Following the service, Jimmy worked for Citizens Gas and Coke as a service technician until retirement in 1984. Jimmy was an avid member of his church, Pentecostal Workers Assembly, where he met his loving wife of 38 years, Ina.
Jimmy will be remembered for his endearing sense of humor, love of gardening, story-telling and most of all, his love for his family.
He is preceded in death by his son, James “Jimbo” E. Cheatham; former wife, Genevieve Cheatham; step-daughter, Jeanette Lee Albertson; and grandchildren, Raymond Walker and Amie Steiner.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Ina (Hatchett) B. Cheatham; daughter, Genny Darlene Cheatham; step-children, Janet K. Williams (Roger), Anita P. Walker (Harlin), Patricia G. Boller, Christina A. Nuckols, and Edward Lee Lawson; 19 grandchildren and many adoring great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are from 11AM-2PM on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Word of Life Full Gospel Church, 525 Foltz St, Indianapolis, IN 46241. Service to follow at 2PM.
