James “Jim” R. Rose was born March 11, 1942 in Dugger, Indiana to Arndolph “Barney” and Maxine Rose. His passing was June 13, 2020 at 78 years of age due to his battle with dementia.
Moving to Indianapolis when he was 2, he grew up on the east side attending Public School 58 and graduated from Howe High School in 1961. He attended classes at IUPUI through his career at General Motor’s Allison’s Gas Turbine. Jim married the love of his life, Susan O’Harrow in August 1965, having two daughters. He was a hard worker and enjoyed weekend camping with his family and friends, bowling, hunting, and Indy car and NASCAR racing. After 30 years at Allison’s he retired at the age of 50 in 1992. After retirement he enjoyed golfing, traveling with friends and family, coaching and attending his grandchildren’s sports practices and games.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Maxine, and his sister Dottie. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Susan, his daughters Cathy Rose, Christy (Carl Madden) Rose, Nephew Terry (Sherie) Wrightsman, and his beloved grandchildren Chris (Mary) Madden, Caitlyn (Devyn Mikell) Redmon, Joshua James, and a host of nieces and nephews.
