James "Jim" M. Mick

James “Jim” M. Mick, 79, of Indianapolis went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023. He was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia on April 24, 1944, to parents, Earl and Isabelle Mick. Jim dutifully served his country and was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a dedicated employee for UPS for over 30 years. Jim married the love of his life, Gaynelle Rogers Mick, on September 23, 1967. Together they spent 56 years, creating many wonderful memories that will forever be cherished. Jim was a long-time member of Chapel Rock Christian Church. He was an avid fly-fisherman and woodworker. Most of all he loved and cherished this time spent with his family. It was simple—if you knew Jim, you loved him. He undoubtedly left this world too soon, but his impact was undeniable. Jim will be missed tremendously by all the lives he has touched.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Gaynelle; his daughter, Danelle (Henry) Pierson; his grandchildren, Logan Pierson, and Kennedy Pierson; his sisters, Janice (Steve) Adams, Dena (Her late husband Craig) Curtis, Teresa (Robert) Britton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Emmons Mick and Aura Isabelle (Ocheltree) Mick, and his son, Derek William Mick.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 4PM-8PM at Flanner Buchanan—Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd. A funeral service will be held the following day at Chapel Rock Christian Church at 1PM. Jim will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery.
