James "Jim" Henry Jordan

August 18, 1921 — April 22, 2021

Indianapolis, IN

James Henry Jordan, born August 18, 1921, lived a full life spanning nearly 100 years. He passed away peacefully April 22, 2021. The only son of Willard and Esther Jordan, he grew up in Lynn Indiana where his ancestors had resided since the 1840s. The State of Indiana recognized this fact in awarding a plaque to the family farm.

At Indiana University he earned Bachelor’s and Masters degrees in economics and played in the Hoosier Hundred band. Following college he moved to Indianapolis and joined the CPA firm of R. J. Pile where he spent his entire career, retiring as managing partner.

He was married to Martha Stedman for over 60 years and is survived by their three children, Jim ( Myla) Jordan, Judy (Steve) Springer, Jane ( Doug) Meyer, six grand children and thirteen great grandchildren.

He devoted much energy and good work to Northminster Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis, and Westminster Retirement community, always serving in positions of leadership.

He will be remembered and honored by all those whose lives he touched personally and professionally as a kind and caring man.

He enjoyed time at Lake Wawasee with his many friends and all of his extended family. There at a family celebration for himself and Martha of their fairytale marriage, he remarked “The most important things we have accomplished in life are sitting in this room with us tonight”.
He will be missed.

There will be a private memorial service for family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Northminster Presbyterian Church Foundation.
