James H. “Jim” McNary, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
Jim was born on October 24, 1934 in Winamac, IN to the late Oren H. and Helen (Buis) McNary. He attended Purdue University and pursued a career in Civil Engineering. He later worked at Poindexter Excavating for 34 years as a Construction Estimator. He was a member of the VFW Post #261 in Lawrence, the Oaklandon Masonic Lodge, and Indian Lake Country Club. He shared his love of water and boating with many family and good friends, often visiting his boat on the Ohio River near his childhood hometown of Vevay, IN.
He leaves behind: His sister, Doris Anne ‘Do’ Onken; first wife, Patricia Sherfick; two daughters, Marla (Donald) Carlson and Taunia (David) Price; step son, Ricky Eaton; eight grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: His wife, Helen Ruth Miller McNary, and step daughter, Becky Eaton Rymer.
Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate his life from 10:00am-12:00pm on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00pm. He will be laid to rest at Fillmore Cemetery in Fillmore, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post #261 in Lawrence, 10550 Pendleton Pike, Indianapolis, IN 46236 or the Oaklandon Masonic Lodge, 11735 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis, IN 46236.
