James F. “Jim” Mann, 88 of Ft. Myers, FL formerly Indianapolis, IN died April 27, 2017. Jim served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. He then served our community as a member of the Wayne Township Board, and as a Deputy Sheriff with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department where he retired. Jim was a member of the Flackville Lions Club, and the Indianapolis Northwest Lions Club. After the Northwest club closed he became a member of the Speedway Lions Club. His service with the Lions organization exceeded fifty years. Jim was awarded his 50 year Masonic pin from the Speedway Masonic Lodge #729 in 2015. Jim was active in racing as early as the late 1940s and served on several pit crews at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as well as being involved with World Land Speed Record racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Jim is survived by his wife Donna M. (Niswander) Mann, his daughter Cathy L Schmalstig, and his son James N. Mann. Calling will be held on Thursday May 04, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway from 4 to 8 pm. Entombment will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
