James Dudley Hugunin, age 88, passed away on January 22, 2025, in Danville, Indiana. Jim was born on August 24, 1936, in Linton, Indiana to the late James H. and Genevia (Harp) Hugunin.
After graduating from Linton High School in 1954, Jim came to Indianapolis to work at Diamond Chain where he was entered into the Apprentice Machinist program. After employment at several local companies, he joined Eli Lilly in 1982, retiring from there in 1999 after 17 years of service. He and his wife, Gail, spent many wonderful years of retirement traveling through all 50 states and parts of Canada.
Jim was a truly wonderful husband, father, brother, friend, “Grandpa”, and was respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by us all.
Jim was preceded in death by his sons, Terence Wayne Hugunin and Mark Allen Hugunin; brothers, John Hugunin and David Hugunin; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Gail McCoun Hugunin; stepchildren, David (Lynn) Freeland of Danville, Indiana, Nancy (Rick) Devens of Plainfield, Indiana, and Christine (Richard) Kettwig of Lake Port, California; sister, Martha Jane Bowers of Linton, Indiana; brothers, Kelly (Cheryl) Hugunin of Clayton, Indiana, and Allen (Janeen) Hugunin of Bardenton, Florida; six step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 10am-1pm with Funeral Service to immediately follow at 1pm. Jim will be laid to rest following the service in Floral Park Cemetery.
