James H. Wernsing

James H. Wernsing, 72, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away December 2, 2021. He was born on September 14, 1949 to the late Anthony Wernsing and Mary K. (Wernsing) Wuest in Indianapolis. James met and married the love of his life, Carol Sutton Wernsing. He dedicated much of his time to working for Kroger Bakery and acting as the financial secretary for BCTGM – Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers & Grain Millers Union. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and golfing, but most of all spending time with his family of 6 children and 16 grandchildren. He cared and loved for his many pets over the years. He was an active member of his church and enjoyed volunteering to help where ever he could. He held the rank of Knight Grand Cross of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; along with being a part of many additional organizations. He was always making people laugh and smile with his silly, sometimes corny, jokes. He made time for his friends and family, helping people when they needed him and taking them to do things he knew they would love. He was always thinking of others. He was a strong, smart, faith-driven man with a big heart for the people and animals in his life. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol D. Wernsing; children, Jennifer (Semin) Palic, Francheska (Gary) Campbell, Wendy (Cris) Manubay, Scott (Veronica) Hogue, Erica (Jeff) Collins, and Patricia (Dave) Marsella; 16 grandchildren; and brother Ed Wernsing. He is preceded in passing by his parents; step father, George Wuest. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 4-8PM at Flanner Buchanan - Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229.  Rosary at 5pm.  Mass will be held the following day, Friday, at 10:30AM at Holy Rosary, 520 Stevens St, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
