James Francis Thais

76, of Greenfield, IN passed away December 25, 2016. James was born in Vincennes, IN on December 5, 1940 to his late parents, John Edward and Frances Catherine (Bouvy) Thais.

James earned his BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Christian Brothers College and retired in 1996 after 32 years as the Department Head with National Starch & Chemical Company. James was a very faithful man and member of St. Michael Catholic Church. In his spare time, James enjoyed playing poker, visiting casinos and fishing. However, he most enjoyed spending time with his beloved family. James was always a pillar of strength, support and comfort to his wife, children and grandchildren alike. He will lovingly be missed by all.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Daphine (Cox) Thais; children: John W. Thais (Sue), Katherine L. Mathes, Linda M. Bounin (Gary), Cynthia A. Emberton, and Jennifer L. White; 10 grandchildren: Adam, Emily, Nicholas, Tyler, Ashley, Cody, Blair, Tara, Taylor and Madelynn; 2 great-grandchildren, Ryley and Caleb; and his brothers, Richard R. “Dick” Thais (Kay) and Gerald J. “Jerry” Thais.

Friends may call from 4pm until 8pm, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield. Burial will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
