James Michael "Mike" Emmert

James Michael “Mike” Emmert passed away on October 10, 2024, at 84 years old. He was born November 18, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Harry Raymond and Alma Mae (Warren) Emmert. Mike retired from his work as an Electronics Technician with Ameritech AT&T after 33 years of service. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose; he attended Sunday services with the congregation of the Bible Church of Brownsburg and met frequently with the Ben Davis graduates of '58. He enjoyed reading, putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing card games, and working on crossword and sudoku puzzles. He was very keen on karaoke, as well as dancing, including many years of square dancing and round dancing, but he delighted in spending time with his friends and family the most. Mike is survived by his children, Laura (Rich) Perry, and Craig (JoAnn) Emmert, his grandchildren, Cory (Billie), Wade (Lauren), Corbin, Elaina, and Gwendolyn; his great-grandchildren, Blake, Nevika, Sierra, and Addilynn, as well as his sister, Maribelle Emmert. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sally Eileen Emmert, and his siblings, Richard, Sharon Harper, Gerald “Jerry”, Thomas “Tommy”, and Mary Ellen. Please join his family in celebrating his life on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm for a Memorial Gathering at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with the Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park North Cemetery following his service.
