James A. “Jim” Rohl, 78 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away February 6, 2021. He was born May 11, 1942 in Leopold, Indiana to the late Vern and Elsie (Schellenberg) Rohl. Jim was a Machine Repairman for Allison Transmission for over 30 years retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Hope Baptist Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose, American Legion, United Auto Workers Union, and Alcoholics Anonymous, for which he had sobriety for over 27 years. He was a 1960 graduate of Ben Davis High School. The family said he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, enjoyed karaoke, playing cards, fishing, camping, golf, chess, and bowling. Jim enjoyed being a caretaker to many birds and dogs, taking care of them and loving them as family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Jim is survived by his wife, Joan A. (Pavlisko) Rohl, daughters, Lisa Jaynes Albright, Vicki Shaffer, his grandchildren, Jessica, Abigail, Zach, Taylor, Connor, Chandler, and sisters, Wanda Lawson and Pam Handlon. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a wife, Judy, and his brothers, Jack, Kenneth and Urdie Rohl. Services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with visitation there Thursday, February 11, 2021 4-7 PM and Friday from 12:00-1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at K of P Cemetery in Lizton, Indiana in a private service for his family. Memorial gifts may be directed to Alcoholics Anonymous.
