Jalah Rose went to be with the Lord on November 27, 2016 at the age of 92. Jalah was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky on October 25, 1924. She moved to Austin Indiana as a young adult, where she met and married returning WWII veteran Russell Rose. They moved to Indianapolis, and shared 66 years of marriage, prior to Russell’s death in 2013. They worked hand in hand for many years as service station owners, and later in the real estate industry. In retirement, they shared the love of gardening and canning, and were active members of Lawrence United Methodist Church. As a child, Jalah learned the art of quilting from her Grandmother. She passed down the quilting legacy to 3 additional generations. Above all, Jalah was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother and is survived by her children, Eary Dayton (David), Tony Rose (Debbie), and Mary Weston (Jeff); 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 3 brothers; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Russell; daughter, Mildred Martin; parents, Eta Bell and Chester Johnson; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation will be Friday December 9, 2016 from 4-8 at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd. Funeral services will be Saturday December 10, 2016 at Lawrence United Methodist Church 5200 N Shadeland Ave. at 1:00 PM with visitation from 12:30 to time of service. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lawrence United Methodist Church.
