Jacqueline Ilene Holder

Jacqueline Ilene Holder was born May 4, 1936 on Indianapolis Avenue in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was the elder daughter of Henry and Ruth Cole Holder, who preceded her death.

Jackie graduated from Indiana University and was a life member of the Alumni Club. She also was a charter member of the Neal-Marshall Club of Indiana University. She taught for 27 years in the Indianapolis Public Schools, retiring in 1996. Jackie moved to Peoria, Arizona in 1997; however, later moved to Sun City, Arizona. Thereafter, Jackie later decided to move to Redondo Beach, California; then moved back to Sun City, Arizona. Finally in April 2021, she moved back to Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jackie was a member of Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church and the Altar Guild. Her other memberships included the AAUW SCW and Sun City Branch, Greater Phoenix Newcomer’s Club, the Sun Cities Art League, the Sun Health Auxiliary, Life member NCNW, and SIGMA GAMMA Rho Sorority. She was also a volunteer at Boswell Hospital and the West Valley Museum of Art of which she was also a member. Jackie was preceded in death by her younger sister Norma S. Mays, niece Lisa C. Harris Clark, and nephew Dwayne M. Mays. Jackie leaves to mourn, two nieces, Julie Tibbs and Karla Mays-Osunyikanmi, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46222, with burial to follow in Floral Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service.
