Jack Wayne Howard, 65, of Indianapolis, IN, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
Jack was born on September 27, 1957 to Ferris “Jack” and Helen Howard; he was the middle son of 5 boys. He grew up on the west side of Indianapolis where he and his family were considered local celebrities, as you either knew them or knew of them.
On January 16, 1976, he first laid eyes on Judy, the love of his life, and 2 months and 4 days later, on March 20, 1976 they became one in holy matrimony. Jack and Judy enjoyed the newlywed life for 5 years, and then decided to start their family. They have their two “baby girls” as they referred to them, Joani and Jessica; they were the four J’s.
Jack was truly a jack-of-all-trades, from his early days scooping poop from dog kennels, to installing windows with his dad in the downtown Indianapolis high-rise buildings, to being “BIG JACK the REPO-MAN,” to owning and operating Gutter Professionals, successfully, for the last 30 years.
Aside from his hard working nature, Jack was known for playing music and singing all over with his family and countless friends. He could play anything, especially stringed instruments. Jack was a gifted lead guitar player and could walk the bass like no other. He loved to spread joy by singing and playing in churches and senior citizen facilities, but he was also known to pull out his guitar anywhere and start an impromptu concert. He loved his Southern Gospel and Classic Country music. The majority of his life, he attended True Gospel Assembly Church, where he was most recently a board member and the lead musician.
In addition to his musical talents, Jack was the guy that always had a joke for you. He loved to entertain and bring a smile to your face and make everyone laugh. If he got you to pull his finger, then his day was made.
Jack was never at a loss for words. You may not always like what he had to say, but you would never walk away wondering, “what does Jack think?” His family and friends could always count on his honest opinion and steady advice.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack and his brothers Joe, Terry and Bill. He is survived by his lovely wife Judy, daughters, Joani (CJ) Griffin and Jessica (Jordan) Smith, grandsons, Jason, Justin and Jackson, and miracle granddaughter, baby ‘J’ Smith, who is due in late December. He is also survived by his mother Helen and brother Gary (Shirley), along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to True Gospel Assembly Church. Jack always wanted to build up the church in anyway he could.
If Jack were able to give a final remark, he would tell you, “Know that you know, that you know, that you’re saved, sanctified and Heaven bound!”
Jack looks forward to seeing all of you in Heaven on that glorious day when God gathers his children Home!
