Ivan L. Willenberg, 83 of Indianapolis, left this life in the embrace of our God on Saturday May 8, 2021. He died from complications from pneumonia. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean; his precious children, Mark (Anita) Willenberg, and Laura (Bruce) Willenberg Baldridge; his beloved grandson, Christopher (Leslie) Willenberg; and his brother, Wayne (Peggy) Willenberg. Ivan, the son of Melvin and Lenore Willenberg, was born on July 26, 1937 in Springfield, IL. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
The calm, quiet man left his indelible imprint on all who knew him. He graduated from Howe High School, earned his B.S. from Indiana University, and his MBA from Butler University. He joined the US Army as a 2nd Lt. and knew active duty 1961. He was a member of Kappa Delta Rho fraternity at IU.
He was a faithful member of Lawrence United Methodist Church for 32 years, and is a current member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Carmel, IN. He used his administrative talents and organizational skills to serve in both churches.
He was employed by Western Electric for 30 years. He used his talents as a purchasing agent, Section Chief, and retired as a Department Chief in the Production Control Department. He was also certified in Production and Inventory Control.
Ivan was an avid reader. His interests included studying history, IU basketball, Colts football, and spending time on watercolor art. He also loved gardening, and a result he became an Indiana Master Gardener.
He was a family man. Married 60 years to his sweetheart, Jean. He loved and supported all activities of his beloved family. He adored his only grandson.
A celebration of Ivan’s life will be held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Carmel, IN (4780 E 126th St, Carmel, IN 46033) on Saturday May 15, 2021 at 11:00 am. Services will be streamed on St. Mark’s UMC’s facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/stmarkscarmel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s UMC, the Indiana University Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.
