Ivan “Bo” Stewart, 83, of Lawrence, passed away suddenly in Indianapolis, Indiana on the evening of Monday, May 24th due to complications from surgery. Born in Goreville, IL on October 29, 1937, to the late Virgil Wayne and Lena (Murphy) Stewart, both of Goreville, IL. Bo grew up in Goreville with his older sister, Alice Mae Stewart (Kirby) formally of Goreville, IL. As a young boy he loved to spend time with his dog Trixie and enjoyed playing basketball. He graduated from Goreville High School in 1958.
He later met the love of his life, Connie Lou Horsley, West Vienna, IL, after being set up on a blind date. They later married on October 11, 1958. Immediately thereafter Bo joined the Air Force and was stationed on the island of Crete. He served from 1958-1962. He was Airman 1st Class upon completion of his military time. While eventually returning home to his wife in Michigan, they began to build their lives together. They decided to relocate to Indianapolis, Indiana where Bo took a job with the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1962-1967. His career aspirations took him in another direction when he was recruited by his brother-in-law, Roy Sutterfield, and began working for Prairie Farmer Insurance, where he worked hard from 1967-1988 and won many trips and awards for his commitment and success. In 1988, medical conditions forced Bo into a different career path as the Building Manager for The Finance Center Federal Credit Union, in Lawrence Indiana. In 2005, he retired from the Credit Union to spend more time with his loving wife, daughters and many grandchildren. It also gave him more time to cheer on his two favorite teams – the Colts and the Pacers.
Bo certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family & his faith in GOD. He was known for being a kind and loving partner to his wife Connie, as well as an amazing father to his daughters Kim, Shelley & Angie. He was dependable, honorable, compassionate and committed to his family & friends, and this is exactly how he chose to live his life up until his last days.
Bo is survived by his wife Connie Lou Stewart (Lawrence), daughters, Kimberly Ann Stewart, Lawrence, Shelley Jo Johnson (Robert) Lawrence, & Angela Beth Jackson (Myron) Greenfield. Aside from his spouse and daughters, Ivan also leaves behind a sister in law, Sallie Booth (Jim) Peoria, IL, Grandchildren Jay (Ashley) Goar, Rachel Goar, Jeremy (Michelle) Goar, Wyatt Gutierrez & Hailey (Nick) Durr. Great grandchildren Elijah, Sydney, Mason, Madalyn, Samantha, Easton, Brynley, Brayden and “one on the way”
