Irlean Jerita Smith was born on August 10, 1935 to the late Dan Sr. and Anna Williams in Gary, IN. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem A.M.E. Zion church. She grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ into her life at an early age.
She was a 1953 graduate of Roosevelt High School. She was the first female in the family to attend college; she attended Hampton University. While attending college, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
On July 27, 1983, she entered into holy matrimony with the late Reverend Richard Allen Smith.
She had a great love for her family and especially enjoyed the annual family trips to Michigan. Her homemade rolls were a family hit and she never got tired making dozens of them for everyone to enjoy.
On February 2, 2021, she was called to rest while at home.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her legacy; a devoted daughter; Karletta Harbin, two loving granddaughters; Jasmyne Johnson and Julia Johnson, one a loving grandson; Fennon Harbin IV, one special great granddaughter; Anaiya Lewis, one nephew; Richard (Asia) Williams, two nieces; Toya Williams and Daniese Roberson. She also leaves a host of family and friends.
