Indalecio (Indy) Ruiz was born in Chicago, the son of Indalecio Ruiz from Mexico and Celia Cantu Ruiz from Texas. He was the third child of a family of 12.  He helped his father build their family home in Dyer, Indiana where they lived throughout his childhood. Indy was a great athlete and scholar while in high school playing football, track and wrestling.  After high school he joined the Marine Corps and served his country.   With the GI bill he attended Indiana State University where he met his wife Janice while studying to be an educator. With multiple degrees in education, BS, MS and EdS he started his career at Lake Central Schools.  During his  years as an educator he was a teacher, an athletic director, wrestling coach and assistant principal in northern Indiana.  With that background he earned his way to becoming a principal in the Indianapolis area at Brownsburg Middle School and Monrovia Jr. High School.  As his children went off to college, he retired from his education career and started a new career in Real Estate.  He quickly developed a following with Indy's Home Team and used his bi-lingual abilities to grow his business throughout the Indianapolis hispanic community for the past 25 years. Indy is survived by his wife Janice of 51 years, his daughter, Renee McGowan, son,  Adam Ruiz, son-in-law John McGowan  and 4 grandchildren, Jenna Ruiz, Jack McGowan, Sara Mc Gowan, Sienna McGowan.  While working, he always found time to be a devoted husband, father and grandfather to the joys of his life.  He was always coaching Renee and Adam's baseball and softball teams and at every ball game, meet and performance with encouraging words of wisdom to assist, comfort and guide his four grandchildren.
