Indianapolis, Indiana – Imogene Beckner, 94, passed away at home on March 9, 2024. Imogene was born to parents Ralph and Lillie Bennett here in Indianapolis on April 16, 1929.
Imogene worked for AT&T for over thirty years, retiring in 1984 with a full pension.
More than work though, Imogene was an outgoing and social woman who loved to host family and friends. A long-time member of the Moose Lodge #17, she also divided time with lake Glenn Flint and testing her luck at the casino. She relaxed by having a sip of her Miller-Lite with her loved ones, including Bobby Hall, who she married on October 11, 1947. After his passing, she married Edward Beckner on May 27, 1994.
And really Imogene lived for her family the most. She spoiled her grandchildren, always making the best Easter baskets for them or playing the role of Santa.
In addition to her parents, Imogene is preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Hall-Cooper (William); and her husbands, Bobby Hall and Edward Beckner.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Tamara Baxter and Brandon (Melinda) Cooper; great-grandchildren Rachel Higgins (Paul), Lindsey Baxter, Sarah Baxter, Megan Cooper (Noel), Vanessa Cooper (Nick); siblings Connie Bennet, Albert Bennett, and Marie Bennett, as well as her great-great grandchildren Elliott Higgins and Malcolm Hussein.
Family will gather for funeral services at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 2 pm. Entombment will follow funeral services at Washington Park East Cemetery.
