Hionoula Papakosmas

Hionoula Papakosmas, 100, Carmel, IN, passed away March 16, 2025. She was born in Kavala, Greece. She was a homemaker in Greece with 2 daughters, before immigrating to the U.S. in 1954, where she had a son. Upon arriving in the U.S., she first lived in Gary, IN then Munster, IN, and finally Carmel, IN. Hionoula enjoyed cooking, gardening, and knitting, but the most important was spending time with her family. She loved to stay active, volunteering at church, entertaining, and socializing with friends. Her beautiful smile and infectious laughter will never be forgotten.

Hionoula was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 72 years, Alex Papakosmas, and two brothers.

Survivors include her children, Mary (George) Pappas, Katherine (Jeff) Sorenson, Frank (Karen) Cosmas, grandchildren, Alexandra, Katherine (Jack), Jamie (Jon), Bradley (Casey), Erik, Marc, Christina (Junu), Phillip, great-grandchildren, Zoe, Jacquie, Jack, and Christopher.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Visitation will be held Monday March 24th 10:00am to 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3500 W 106th St Carmel, IN. Funeral services will begin there at 11:00am. Online condolences may be shared at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
