Hilda Maria Gonzales

Hilda Maria Gonzales, 86, passed away November 2nd, 2024. She was born May 31st, 1938, in Pital De San Carlos, Costa Rica to parents Alfonso Gamboa and Elida Quesada Jimenez.

Hilda grew up in San Carlos, Costa Rica. She moved to the United States in 1958 as a young woman, through sponsorship with the Indianapolis Archdiocese. 

 She was married to Guadalupe D Gonzales. They shared many wonderful years together. Her spouse passed away in 2017.

A hard worker, Hilda worked as a telephone switchboard operator for Western Electric as her first job. She continued her career at Western Electric for over 25 years before retiring.

Hilda was a valued, devoted member of Lawrence Baptist Church/. She loved attending church and sharing God’s love with others.

Hilda was a vibrant, loving woman. An incredible gardener, Hilda was born with a green thumb and had a knack for keeping all her plants happy and healthy. She loved music, especially Boleros music, and in her younger years, was an excellent cook. Hilda was always passionate about women’s rights and considered herself an activist for causes important to her. Her son, Victor, was the light of her life, and she adored her grandchildren.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Hilda is survived by her son Victor Lizano and his wife Neudymar Virginia, her granddaughters Alexa and Xiani Lizano; and her siblings Ana Lucia Gamboa, Alexis Gamboa and Wilbur Gamboa.

Hilda’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9th at Lawrence Baptist Church,100 S Post Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46219. Her memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
