Herta Frost

Greenwood, Indiana – Herta P. Frost, 104, passed away peacefully after being comforted by family, on February 23, 2025. A mild woman whose love and simple way of life, was an inspiration to those around her, she will be deeply missed.

Herta was born on June 11, 1920, in Germany, to parents Kurt & Paula (Vogel) Wather. Her family immigrated here to the United States in 1926, Herta then attending and graduating from Arsenal Tech High School. A devoted Christian, Herta was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ.

Herta was a woman who was devoted to her family. She spent many years working at Central Indiana Distributing as a secretary until her retirement in 1982, but her real joy was being a caretaker for those around her. Early in life it was her three daughters, and later her husband, Darrell Frost, her sister after a sudden stroke, and then her parents as they got older.

When she took time for herself, Herta enjoyed listening to the opera, watching Lawrence Welk, or attending church.

In addition to her parents, Herta is preceded in death by her brother Wilford Wather, and sister Brunhilde Pedigo.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Thompson (Bob), Marilyn Strange (James), and Cynthia Fine (Dave).
