Herschel M. McWilliams
89, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 24, 2017. Herschel was born on October 17, 1927 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Clarence and Lenora (Murphy) McWilliams. Herschel proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. After service, he worked as a truck driver for many companies, most recently OK Trucking where he retired after 42 years of trucking. He was member of the Marwood Baptist Church and the West Newton Masonic Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Larry McWilliams. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Laura (Covey) McWilliams, children Terry (Pam) McWilliams, Kathy Taft, Diane Nuetzman, Julie (Gayle) Kruse, Jamie (Eric) Stafford, Susan Osborne, a brother Clarence McWilliams, a sister Wanda West, 36 grandchildren with two more on the way. Visitation will be held Monday from 3-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan- Decatur, with services Tuesday at 11:00am in the funeral center. Burial will follow the services in West Newton Cemetery.
