Herman DeValeria, 95, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Herman was born on July 4th, 1926 in Arnold, PA to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Di Florio) DeValerio.
Herman served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a signalman. Herman married Jean (Giusti) in 1951 and they shared 65 years together until Jean passed away in 2016. Herman worked his entire career for Eli Lilly in Indianapolis as a research microbiologist. Later in life, he loved to play golf, enjoy a cigar and spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, David DeValeria, Valerie (Jim Gerecke) DeValeria, Patrick (Pam) DeValeria and Paul (Kathryn) DeValeria, as well as 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 30, from 10 am to 10:30 am, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery – Good Shepherd Chapel, 9700 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Service will be at 10:30 in the same location. Entombment to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial can be made to the Indianapolis Honor Flight.
