Herman A. "Sonny" Longere

Herman A. “Sonny” Longere, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019.

He was born on March 18, 1930 in Indianapolis to the late Louis P. and Goldie (Kinney) Longere.  Herman was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1950 – 1953.  He worked for L.S. Ayres, retiring in 1988 after 26 years of service. Herman was devoted to caring for and providing for his family.

He is survived by his children, Kristi (Craig) Longere-Anderson, Lesli Welker, Scott (David Mannell) Longere; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Herman was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 63 years, Beverly (Bauer) Longere; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 4-6:30pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, with funeral services immediately following.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the Indianapolis Humane Society.  Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
