Henriette L Williams 96,Speedway, IN passed away on Sunday, June 25,2017
Henriette was born on May 27, 1921 in Tienen, Belgium to Jean and Teresa Engels.
This is where she grew into a fine young woman and taught fine arts sewing at the girls
academy. She also won many national competitions as a professional dressmaker.
Her hometown was definitely affected by the horrors of World War II. But it was in this unlikely setting that she met her beloved American soldier, Charlie. Against all odds, their love endured and they married on December 26,1945. After the war, they made their lifelong home in his hometown, Indianapolis. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, she continued to be a very accomplished seamstress; sewing everything from communion dresses, school uniforms, nuns habits to wedding dresses and square dance dresses.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Williams. She is survived by daughters
Teresa Overla and Carol Kijovsky and son John (Tami) Williams, 5 grandchildren and 9 great
grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please donate to her favorite charity: St. Jude's Children Research Hospital
