Helen Olean Howell Cross

Helen Olean Howell Cross, Ed. D., passed away October 23, 2022, at the age of 90.

She was born on April 18, 1932, in Westmoreland, TN to the late Robert M. (Sr.) and Leona Leath Howell. Helen is a former IPS teacher and principal. She received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Butler University, and her doctoral degree from Indiana University.

Helen is survived by her son, Christopher Cross (Carrie), daughter, Megan Cross Childers (Steven), Krista Cross, grandchildren, Danny Henson Jr. (Rovelyn), Seth Henson (Jessa), Cody Cross, Alcey Childers, Audrey Childers, and Amanda Flohr, great-grandchildren, Hadassah and Hannah Henson, Olive, Katelyn, and Lilly Henson, and Eathan, Riley, and Millie Flohr, brothers, Johnny Howell and Robert Howell, Jr. (Sue), sister, Nancy Greenwald (Bill), and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas Earl Cross, daughter, Cheryl Cross Henson, and sister, Holly Howell McCreary.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am-2:30pm with a funeral service to follow on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park North (Great Hall Chapel), 2706 Kessler Blvd W. Dr. Indianapolis.
