Helen Mae Lively
May 8, 1926—Oct. 7, 2021
If you like listening to a story or a silly joke, playing games, rearranging furniture, shopping, hanging out with family or friends, baking, celebrating life, praying for others, singing or humming while you work, then you would have enjoyed Helen Mae Lively. She was one of eleven children born and raised in Centerville, Tennessee, then later to live in Chicago where she worked in a factory making pup tents for the army during WWII.
She later spent 40 years in Indianapolis working in Alterations for William H. Block Company downtown Indianapolis, and for Marsh Grocery Stores serving as the NonFoods Manager. She was ingenious in her many displays, and won many awards for her creative works. Helen loved to sing, and sang all the way through her life rejoicing and singing God’s praises. She left her earthly home on October 7, 2021.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John Broadus and Mattie Alice Rochelle, her husband, Alfred Eugene Copple, later in life, her husband, Beaulis Lively, son, Donald Eugene Copple, grandson, Shane Copple, and eight of her siblings.
She is survived by her children, Roger Copple of Tampa, Florida and Brenda Copple Boulais of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Curtis Copple of Marble Falls Texas, Andre and Ashley Boulais of Carmel, IN, great-grandchildren, Connor, Annabelle, and Maggie Mae, Nathan and Tricia Boulais of Carmel, IN, great-grandchildren, Zachary, Micah, and Luke, Ryan and Anne Copple of Lexington, Kentucky, great-grandchildren Adelaide and Alice, Brett and Kendra Lively of Fredericksburg, VA, great-grandchildren Taylor and Braden: her sister, Freda, and husband Pembrooke Hall, brothers, LLoyd and wife Faye Rochelle, and Fred and wife Pat Rochelle as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
To know Helen was to love her and often laugh with her. She was telling her jokes and firing back clever comebacks until her last days as a joyful 95 year old. She was clever and charming, but truly a woman of God. She sang in the Calvary Tabernacle Choir for years. She accumulated many friends and maintained those friendships through the years. In the face of adversity she would take her worries to God.
