Helen M. Gaither

Helen Marie Gaither, 93, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on April 16, 2022 after a battle with COVID and underlying conditions.

Helen Marie Gaither was born on July 12th, 1928 to Elijah Story and Werdna Rodgers in Marion, Arkansas. After Helen graduated from Crispus Attucks High School with much success and plenty of trophies with her activities in Bowling Championships, she started her career with HUD after many years where she also retired.

In 1947, Helen was married to Sylvester Redmon in Indianapolis for 16 years. Helen and Sylvester Redmon went on to have their one and only child together, Steven L. Redmon, Sr.. Helen and Sylvester Redmon divorced in 1963.

Helen later re-married to John Gaither for many years and divorced prior to his passing.

After 30 plus years, Helen retired and spent her time with family, friends and loved ones, she also enjoyed bowling and dancing.

Helen was predeceased by her parents Elijah and Wernda Story, brother Elijah Storey Jr., and sister Elnor Jean Franklin. Helen is survived by her one and only son, Steven L. Redmon, Sr., thirteen grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, family, friends and loved ones.
