Hazel Florence Barrow

Hazel F. Barrow, at the age of 104, passed away February 6, 2016 at Indianapolis Brookdale Robin Run Health Care, where she had been a patient since August 2005.

Hazel was born Sept 19, 1911, in Rush County, Indiana to Clarence and Lulu Carr. Following graduation from Connersville High School, Hazel attended Ball State University and later was a substitute teacher in the Fayette County School System.

In 1931 she married Milton Barrow, and they resided in Connersville. After moving to Indianapolis in 1957, she completed the Approved Beauty School program and operated the "Beauty Bar" in her home for 33 years. The realization of this long-time goal was very fulfilling as was her love of music and singing.

After moving to Brookdale Retirement Center, they celebrated 69 years together before Milton's death in 2000. They were members of East 91st Street Christian Church.

Survivors include: one son. Dr. Richard Barrow of Indianapolis, formerly of Connersville; one daughter, Maralu Gregg and husband, Richard, of Ft. Myers, Florida; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
