Hattie Curry

Hattie Curry, 75, passed away at her home on Christmas Eve, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on November 30, 1947 in Hollondale, Mississippi, to Arteil and Purline Spurlock.

She was a loving wife, mother, and nana. She adored helping others and was a beautiful giving woman who never knew a stranger. She also loved shopping and was a devout Christian.

She was involved in the food pantry, did lots of volunteer work, and even fed the prisons. She sat on the boards at her church and devoted her life to the service of others.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, John Curry, Sr.; children, Sheila Jackson (Darius), John Curry Jr. (Michelle), Ronald Curry (Wendy); grandchildren, Brittany Maul, Anthony W. Jones II (Kierra), Jailon Curry (Ariona), Wesley Curry, Justice Curry, Ashley Curry, Jarell Curry, Tyra Curry, and Jaada Curry; great grandchildren, Anthony W. Jones III, Achilles Curry, Alonna Curry, and Kairo Curry; siblings, Erma Mitchell-Griffeth, Vivian Harris (Vernell), Brenda Robinson (Carlyle), Arteil Spurlock Jr. (Pamela), and Terell Spurlock Sr. (Kimberly).

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Levola Talley, Aretha Muse, Stanley Spurlock, Sheri Tyler.

Funeral service will be held at 1p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2022, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229 with entombment to follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
