Harvey Shannon, Jr.

April 22, 1937 — September 15, 2024

On April 22, 1937, Harvey Shannon JR was born to Lorine Cook Jewell and Harvey Shannon in Springfield, TN, known later in life as Brother Shannon. He embarked on a journey of selfless service, touching the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Harvey confessed his faith in Christ and had deep rooted values as a Christian and a servant's heart.

Harvey attended Indianapolis Public Schools before enlisting in the United States Army. He served 26 and ½ years, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring from the army. He received several commendations in the army, including the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal and several Meritorious Service Medals. After retiring from the army, he went to work at Target Warehouse as Head of Security. He then retired from Target and then went to work at what was then known as Lazarus Department Stores. He retired from Lazarus. He returned to school later in life, attending Indiana Wesleyan University, receiving a degree in Christian Ministries.

He leaves to cherish his memory Ruby Cummings Shannon, sons Harvey Shannon III(Sharon), Burton Shannon, daughters Denise White (Clarence), Lona White and Erin Golder (Damian), sisters Bridgette Small and Kimberly Foye, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey Shannon and Lorine cook Jewell, brothers Theodore Shannon, Thomas Shannon and William Shannon, sister Janie Wallace and first wife Constance Campbell Shannon.

Harvey was a phenomenal man of God. He upheld the standard of Jesus Christ. He served his community by working in the church and serving as the spiritual adviser to a Cocaine Anonymous chapter for over 20 years, relinquishing his position when his body no longer allowed him to serve.

He was a member of American Legion 249 and was also a Mason.
