Harvey M. Brandzel, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2018. He was born on May 26, 1942 in Chicago, IL to the late Harold and Rose (Baum) Brandzel.
Harvey served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 – 1965, and worked in the U.S. Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA. Following his honorable discharge, he obtained a degree in Medical Technology and worked in the VA Hospital and Northwestern Hospital (both of Chicago) as a Medical Technician. Harvey was also the owner and operator of the Tinder Box in Indianapolis from 1973 – 2001. He enjoyed working as a personal trainer for several years at the Ransburg YMCA and LA Fitness, and teaching others about health and fitness.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Donna R. (Tomasino) Brandzel; children, David Brandzel and Jennifer Marr; and devoted canine companion, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jay Brandzel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 3-6pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, with funeral services immediately following. A private burial will take place in Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the ASPCA or the Riley Children’s Foundation.
