Harry Lester Torney

Harry Lester Torney, 90 of Noblesville, IN formerly of Carmel, IN died December 31, 2017.  Harry was born on November 14, 1927 in Wilsonville, NE to William Frederick and Clara Maude (Johann) Torney.  Harry served our country proudly in the United States Navy.  Harry received his Masters Degree and Doctorate Degree from Indiana University.  Harry worked as a microbiologist and retired from Dow Chemical.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and served as Parish Council President in 1977.  He was also a member of the A.H.E.P.A. where he received the District’s Ahepan of the Year and Prometheus Awards.  Harry also served as the District President and as Supreme Secretary of the A.H.E.P.A.  Harry married the love of his life, Helen (Theodore) Torney on November 3, 1967.  Helen preceded Harry in death on September 21, 2014.  Calling will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church from 9:30 am to 11 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am.  Harry is survived by his nephew, Dennis Balderston of Beaver City, NE;  niece Diane (Constantine) Chininis; nephew George (Julie) Baroudos: and great nieces and nephews, Katherine, Constance and Greg Chininis, and Evan and Eli Baroudos.  Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.  Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.  Flanner Buchanan – Carmel are handling arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared at www.flannerbuchanan.com
